Getting to know each other

With over 25 years of experience spanning industries from restaurants, call centers, mining, private security, excavation, firefighting, dental & physical therapy offices, during the past several years my skills have been refined within the residential design build remodeling space.

My journey in this space began with an amazing design build firm that was truly client-focused, with pride in the quality of the product that they provided. My role as a production coordinator evolved over the initial two years to where I was able to identify the gaps and deficiencies within our processes and fill them accordingly. Over the next several years, I refined my approach, emphasizing the importance of continuous, accurate, and timely communication with all stakeholders.

My role evolved to encompass responsibilities from planning and preconstruction through the warranty. I handled cost coding, invoice reviews, and supported project developers with accurate estimates. I conducted post-mortem analyses on completed projects, enabling the team to review, identify, and address deficiencies, ensuring continuous improvement in order to help minimize potential recurring mistakes.

In collaboration with our subcontractors, I managed everything from bid gathering to scheduling to invoice adjustments. I ensured that each subcontractor was aligned with each project’s specific scope of work and updated them on any changes in real-time. I was also available to them should any project scope or scheduling questions arise to review with them at anytime during the project.

Working closely with designers, I ensured that all project details were defined and comprehensive before commencement. I was also responsible for coordinating with clients, guiding them from the preconstruction walkthrough to project completion, and overseeing warranty processes.

My role incorporated being responsible for communicating & scheduling with clients everything from the preconstruction walkthrough through the project completion, as well as warranty information, scheduling, and completions. I also made sure I was available should they have any questions or concerns throughout the process.

Supporting multiple project managers and the production team, I created and reviewed project schedules, training carpenters on proper sequencing and the rationale behind it. I also handled permit acquisition across various counties, ensuring compliance with local regulations. As a team, we consistently saw projects from $100,000 to $500,000 and more through to completion with happy, satisfied clients.

One of the things I brought into our processes was creating a single document prior to the start of the project specifically for the production team that included all of the trade partners assigned to the project, what work was being completed in-house vs. trades, items to salvage during demo, the schedule, items that needed to be reinstalled, and any unusual project specific items.

Throughout these experiences, I have honed a client-focused approach grounded in the following core principles:

  • Success Through Process: Well-defined processes protect from errors and enable informed prioritization.
  • Clear Communication: Sharing relevant information and addressing unresolved issues promptly is crucial to project success.
  • Strategic Prioritization: Understanding the bigger picture allows for the identification and resolution of critical path items.
  • Deliberate Time Management: Being intentional with tasks ensures that time is used effectively.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Leveraging diverse perspectives within a team leads to innovative solutions.
  • Empathy in Communication: "Seek first to understand, then to be understood" guides my interactions with clients and colleagues alike.

I am passionate about creating exceptional client experiences by fostering teamwork, ensuring clear communication, and maintaining a relentless focus on process improvement.
